"That sounds like fun. We have never been to a rodeo before," Mitch's father said as he nodded to the boy. "I'm sure Michelle will love that. Maybe it will get her out of the slump that she is in. I think her main problem is that she had to leave her friends behind. I am sure that the rodeo will be just the thing to help her meet new people." When the boy introduced himself Mitch's father shook his hand. "Nice to meet you Beau. I'm Trent Emerson, my lovely wife is Deliah, and then there is Michelle."
"Alright. We will follow you," Trent said as he smiled then walked over to his truck.
He got inside and started the engine. As he waited for Beau to go to his truck and pull out before him he turned to Mitch, but she was already in her own little world, listening to her music at full blast already. He shook his head and pullout out of the parking lot as soon as Beau pulled out in front of them. The roads here in Texas seemed to be so blank and long. It was incredibly hot as well, and it wasn't the same hot as back in LA. Here when it got hot out you sweat, back in LA you were just hotter than all heck. Trent would rather take the LA weather hands down to this.
"Are you ever going to speak to us?" Trent said as he looked back in the rear view mirror at Mitch. When she shook her head he sighed. "Beau invited us to the rodeo next weekend so we can meet some people in this town. I told him we were going and by we I mean you are going as well."

"Sir, I must say. I do believe you and my pa' would get along just fine from what I can tell. He'll probably be at the rodeo next weekend wanting to kill me for riding." Beau said and let a small laugh pass his lips as he shook Trent's hand. Pulling his hand back he stuck it into his pocket, attempting to find his key's. As Trent introduced both his wife and his daughter he gave them both a sweet smile and said, "Howdy, welcome to town." Using one hand to slightly smooth down he hair he looked back at Trent and said, "It shouldn't take us that long to get there. Unless ol' man Peterson is out on the road driving his tractor." A small laugh came out of his throat as he said this. Ol' man Peterson was one of the oldest men in the town, he was around 85 year's old and still going strong.
"Well sir, let me go get in my truck and I will show y'all where your new house is." He said giving him a smile. Then walked over to his truck, pulling his key's out of his pocket and got in, slightly slamming the door shut. Once he cranked the truck he almost peeled out of the parking lot like always, quickly remembering that he was going to show people their house he casually drove out of the parking lot like someone who always drove safely. As he made his way out of town he checked occasionally to make sure that they were still behind him.

When Mitch heard her father say that they woudl be going to a rodeo she looked straight at him. He had to be kidding her. She didn't want to go to a rodeo where a bunch of hicks hung out for fun. That was not her idea of a good time. She wasn't going. She was refusing to go. Why did her father want to put her through such a slow hick-filled death? Couldn't he just let her out of her misery?
"You know, I like that boy, Beau," Trent said as he looked in the rear-view mirror at his daughter. "He has a good head on his shoulders. You could probably learn a thing or to from him."
Mitch let out a huff as she crossed her arms and turned from her father's gaze to look out the window. She sighed as she watched the dusty country side go by. They were soon on a dirt road that lead to a house. Could they be any further from civilization? As soon as the truck came to a stop Mitch got out and looked at the house. It was a large brown and red brick house. In the back of the house was a small red barn. Mitch hoped that her father wasn't going to do the whole farm think with the animals. Animals were nasty. The house was nice though. Wait, no she didn't like anything about this place.

Turning up the stero in his truck, Beau searched through the songs the cd he had in. Going through it three or four time's he finally found a song that he could listen to at the moment, We Rode In Trucks by Luke Bryan. Now you would never picture Beau being the type of person that would sing along with a song he was listening to now would you? Well, honestly, he was the type would most likely just start singing for no reason if he got bored. And this was one of those time's. As he went down the dirt road he rolled down his window and began to sing along with the song. Not really caring if anyone heard him at the moment. Because he was having to drive a way he wasn't use to, so he was gonna do something that he always did. Pulling into the drive way of the house he was showing, Trent and his family to, Beau pulled over to the side and shut off his truck, getting out.
"Well Trent, this is y'all's house. I'll be truely honest, this is a good house. It has some amazing land with it." Beau said walking over to them, his boots making a crunching noise as he walked across the gravel in the road.
(Short I know. I'm on the phone. Haha.)

Trent stepped out of the house and walked up to Mitch. He stood beside her as he wife joined him and looked out at their house. When Beau spoke Mitch turned toward him and listened. Amazing land? What was so Amazing about it? It was just a piece of land right? Just dirt, grass, a few trees on it. Nothing special.
"It's just like the picture," Trent said as he turned to Beau. "Thanks for getting us here. I now will know the way to out house," he said with a chuckle.
Mitch rolled her eyes as she heard her father's chuckle. She watched as he thanked him then watched as her father and mother walked toward the house. When they were out of sight Mitch looked back at Beau. She looked over him before she opened her mouth.
"Thanks for showing us here," she said softly as she looked at him. It was the first thing that she had spoken in quite a while.
((It's fine. Mine is short as well. I am running out to go look at some dogs. I will be back as soon as possible and will post then.))

"Your completly welcome, Trent. And I'll be honest, if you would of showed up a little bit later then the guy that was coming in to work the rest of my shift wouldn't of been very nice." Beau said, a small laugh passing his lips. Looking over at the barn he saw one of the windows shutter's was barely hanging on. "Ya' know. If you ever need any help around here feel free to give me a holler." He added on and then looked over at Mitch an gave her a smile.
Beau waved a small good-bye to Mitch's mother and father as they walked in the house and then took his gaze back over to the barn window. It looked a little odd since the rest of the barn was closed up. It wasn't his place to worry though, so he just left it be. The silence was broken by soft words spoken by Mitch. It slightly shocked Beau since she hadn't said a word since he met the family.
"Well Mitch, your welcome. It was honestly no problem." He said looking at her, "I mean, the only different thing was I had to drive like I knew what I was doing and not like this was a speed way." Beau added on, laughing at himself slightly.

"At least you have a truck to drive," Mitch said as she looked out at the house and the barn. "I wrecked mine before we left for here. Dad said that he wasn't going to get me another one. I have to pay for it myself," she said with a sigh.
Mitch continued to look at the barn. That shutter to the window threw off the whole image of the barn since all the other shutters were closed and that one was open. Mitch knew her father would try to fix it, but he would probably make it even worse. Beau had offered though. Mitch thought for a moment then looked over at Beau and gave him a smile.
"You know, my dad won't be able to fix that shutter," she said as he looked at him. "He will make a disaster of everything if he tries. Could you come by and fix it sometime? Or I could even help you fix it now if that is more convinient."
Mitch looked back toward the house. It was a nice house, but it had a lot of work that needed to be done on it. For one thing it needed to be painted because that color was awful. Mitch wrinkled her nose at the thought of living in a house that was that color. No, it would definately have to be painted and she would do it all herself if she had to. It wouldn't be that hard she would just have to have her father buy the paint for her to use.
Mitch nodded at that then looked over at Beau. Her mind automatically went to what her father said in the car. Beau did seem like the type of guy that you could learn a lot from and he was cute in a country hick sort of way.

"Yeah, I may have a truck. But I also have a payment on it for the next two year's." Beau said looking over at her and shrugging a bit. It was werid, he had never met anyone who's dad bought them their trucks and everything. Everyone he knew was having to work to make payment's on their trucks or cars. Whatever it was that they had at that point in time. "Well ya' know. If you ever need a opinion on a truck feel free to come find me. If ya' like of course." Beau said, looking the place over.
"Well, I think I could swing by sometime and fix that shutter. Shouldn't take that long to do. Probably just need to sand the edge of it and then put a new hendge on it and a new lock." Beau said giving a small nod and then looking over at her and smiling. "Ya' know if your father came outside right now he wouldn't know what to think. I mean, ya' weren't exactly saying anything back at the feed store." He added on, as soon as the last word came out of his mouth he mentally smacked himself in the forehead. 'Not the smartest thing you've ever said Beau. Most deffently not.' He thought to himself and then snapped out of his own little world.
"So, um, why did y'all most out here if you don't mind my askin'?" Beau said, putting his hands in his pocket. Hoping that he hadn't asked her something that was to personal.

"Yeah, I will hit you up if I need an opinion," Mitch said and sighed.
She could be really nice when she wanted to be. That wasn't all too often though. She didn't like to listen to other people's opinions. Mitch was the kind of person that liked her opinion and didn't want to hear yours unless it was the same as hers. She believed that hers was all that mattered. She would never, as she said, hit Beau up for an opinon on a truck, but she was trying to be nice. He had indeed helped her father find their house.
"Why did we move?" Mitch asked and laughed softly. It was so hard do understand people down here with their thick accent. "Well...for many reasons really. My dad didn't want to be out there anymore. He wanted to get away from the city because he said it was a bad influence. I disagree, but whatever. One night I snuck out and went to a party and on my way I got in a car accident. Hence why I wrecked my car. I was dri-"
Mitch stopped. She wasn't going to fnish that sentance. She would instead change the subject back to fixing the barn.
"Yeah, my dad would somehow mess that up. Thanks in advance. It's nice to know someone that can actually do that kind of stuff. The barn would be a disaster if we didn't have you to fix that shutter. My dad isn't the handy man he thinks he is," Mitch said with a chuckle. "I will tell him that you will stop by later and fix it."

"Oh, I'm sorry if I crossed the line by asking why y'all moved down here." Beau said quickly as she just stopped in the middle of a sentence and then changed the subject back to the barn. Letting out a small sigh, he looked around and then put a smile on his face as she was trying to make the best of his idiotic comment.
"Well, I know one thing. If your dad isn't much of a handy man, he always has one thing going for him. He's a good man. You should be greatful for a dad like that. I mean don't get me wrong, I love my old man, but, he's trying to keep me from riding next weekend in the rodeo and it seems like your dad wants you to go after your goals." Beau said, finishing off his small speach. And now he stood there, waiting to see if she had a comeback as he re-said everything in his speach to himself in his head. Now Beau always seemed to say the most stupid of stuff around pretty girls, and Mitch was pretty in his opinion. Seeing as most city girls had never struck his fancy it was amazing that he found Mitch attractive.
(Short again.. I know. Sorry.)

"No, it's not your fault. You didn't know," Mitch said as she ran her fingers though her hair. "You had a right to be curious. I mean we are the new family in town and whatnot. You were perfectly in your place to ask."
Mitch turned toward Beau as he talked about her father. Could he really tell all that from just meating him and talking to him only three times. She guessed that it was possible. She had never thought of her father that way. She guessed that Beau was right. Her father did support anything that she wanted to do, well...that was when and if she wanted to do something.
"Wait, you are riding in the rodeo? Dad didn't tell me that. Why is your dad not wanting you to ride in the rodeo if you don't mind me asking," Mitch asked as she looked at Beau. The reason for his dad not wanting him to ride in the rodeo must have been a big one. Because didn't all southerners ride in rodeos? That was what she thought, but of course she could be wrong. She didn't know much about the people in the south.

"Alright if you say so." Beau said, giving her a small nod and then looked over at his truck. He stood there looking at it, thinking about how dirty it was and how much he needed to wash it. Maybe that was what he would do later that afternoon, after he got all of his bull riding stuff together for next weekend. The thought of riding next weekend brought a smile to his face, it had been over a year since the last time he road and he was missing it. Have you ever heard the saying 'it's like riding a bike, ya' never forget'? Well that's how bull riding was to Beau. It was in his blood.
As he stood there, he heard the surprise in her voice as she asked if he was riding in the rodeo. "Well, yeah I am. I bull ride." Beau said, giving a proud smile. He had always taken great pride in talking about bull riding. "Oh, no I don't mind your asking. The reason my pa' is gonna kill me next Saturday is because last time I road, which was over a year ago, I got hurt pretty bad. The bull crushed the lower part of my spine so all of that is bolts and nuts and some bone they put in from another person. They told me I would never ride again, so me riding next weekend is a big risk. But it's in my blood and I just can't get away from riding, the past year of not riding has killed me." Beau said, letting out a small sigh.

He was a bull rider? Oh, that must have been dangerous. As soon as he explained why his dad din't want him to ride Mitch's thought was justified. It was very dangerous if the bull crushed part of his lower spine. Mitch could just imagine watching that kind of thing happen. Just watching it would be horrid. She couldn't even to begin to imagine haveing it happen to her.
"That must have been terrible," Mitch exclaimed as she looked at Beau. "I can't even begin to imagine what that was like. Wow..." Mitch paused as she thought about it. He had said that him riding next weekend would be a big risk. Wasn't that a bad thing? "So you are going to take a big chance riding next week, huh? Be careful."
Mitch said the last part with a soft sincere voice. She didn't want him to get hurt again. Most of all she didn't want the bull to kill him. She remembered hearing all kinds of bull riding stories from her friends back in LA about how a bull killed a bunch of people. What if that happened to Beau? That would be horrible. Mitch bit her lip then heard her mother calling out to her from inside.
"Well, I have to head inside. I will tell my dad you will stop by later to fix the shutter," Mitch said as she turned and started to walk away. She soon stopped and looked back at Beau. "Thanks again."

(So sorry I'm just now replying. I tried to the other day but I was totally out of it.)
--------------------------------------------------
~~~The day Beau comes over~~~
Beau walked out to the tool shed early on a Wednesday morning, he had spoken to Trent the day before and said that he would come over the next morning and fix the shutter on the barn that was about to fall off. Grabbing the few things he needed out of the tool shed he went over to his truck and pretty much dumped it all into the bed of his truck, seeing as his toolbox was full of his bull riding equipment. Letting out a small yawn he went over to the driver's side and pulled his keys out of his pocket, opened the door and got in and started the truck.
Slowly he pulled out of his driveway, still stirring up dust since it was so dry. It was foggy that morning, so for one of the few time's he had to drive rather slow. Or at least slow in his mind. After about five to ten minute's of driving me pulled into the Emerson driveway and shut off his truck. Beau had to sit there for a moment, not sure on whether he should go and knock on the door or go and just start working on the shutter. Since he wasn't sure he just sat there for moment, waiting for someone, well anyone to come outside or something.
((Don't worry about it. I was on vacation so it is perfectly fine.)) -----
On that morning Mitch awoke to the sun coming through her blinds. She groaned and turned over onto her side, facing away from the window. She lay there for a few minutes as she woke up completely. Mitch soon raised her hand to her eyes and rubbed the rest of he sleep out of them as she pushed back her covers with her other hand and slowly got out of bed. Mitch then walked over to the window and looked down at the driveway before she was about to shut the blinds completely. Down below she watched Beau's truck pull up inot the driveway and he stepped out.
Mitch smiled to herself as she pulled the blinds closed and went over to her dresser. She pulled out a pair of shorts and a tank top and quickly got dressed. Mitch then brushed through her hair quickly and took off down the stairs, out of her room. Mitch's parents raised an eyebrow as Mitch rushed past them and went out the front door, slaming it shut behind her.
"Beau," Mitch said as she walked up to him. "Nice to see you. Glad to see that you are going to fix that shutter as well. It is going to fall off if one more gust of wind comes by." Mitch nodded and looked over at the barn. Her father had told her to help Beau with the shutter when he came by, but she really didn't know how to do that. "Dad said to help you so whatever help you need I will try my best," Mitch said, knowing that the best that she could do was probably hand him the tools he needed.
